Preparing to Heal: Creating Space for Your Own Rebirth
Share
It's important to understand that everyone's healing journey is completely unique. Nobody's path in life is completely identical to someone else's, but there are overarching themes and milestones that generally everyone does go through that allows them to step into a healed version of themselves. Whether it be in this lifetime or the next, it does happen. Every flower blooms in its own time just as each individual heals in their own. When you recognize you are ready to heal, making space for your own rebirth sets a solid foundation for growth.
The Pause Before the Shift
Preparation is not passive; it's a moment of realization. The first step in embracing healing begins the moment you decide whether to give up completely and continue to reinforce subconscious narratives that no longer serve you or use your defeats as the catalyst for transformation. The moment you choose to clear space within yourself for that change to take root, you have begun to heal. This can look different depending on what your past and present self has experienced, and what you already tell yourself about your life in this moment. We tend to live life on autopilot, driven by primal needs and our desire for comfort and routine, and everyone's experience reshaping their habits is different.
Our habits are a reflection of our inner world, and when you have a sudden change of heart or a little voice in your head that is calling you to do something different, that is a part of you that is recognizing your readiness to change and calling you to do so. Maybe you choose to not act out in a negative way towards a family member, friend, or coworker. Maybe you decide to not have that drink today or choose to go for a walk instead of watching TV. Maybe you pray for the first time in over a decade. No matter what that looks like for you, it's a key moment. By slowing down, grounding yourself, and intentionally shifting your actions, you begin to make space for this new you, and signal to the Universe that you are ready to rise. Acknowledging the weight you carry, releasing patterns or narratives that no longer serve you, and calling in courage to shift your inner world, is the foundation for creating the lived experience of your dreams.
Without this pause, true healing risks staying surface level. Sitting with your mind and allowing yourself to become the observer triggers transformation that is rooted, strong, and deeply authentic.
Small Steps That Lead to Big Changes
In order to tap into your inner world with confidence, you first need to create an outer world that is calm, open, and invites stillness. Here are a few foundational steps you can take to begin, now.
Declutter your life- Organize your home. Empty the junk drawer, clean out your car, get rid of trash, lone socks, and items that no longer bring you joy. This invites the concept of Feng shui, or the practice of arranging your environment to allow qi to flow through your home. Let go of things that seem to take up space without a positive purpose. Wipe the dust off of the ceiling fan, mop the floors and countertops, and open windows and doors to allow fresh air into your home. If available to you, burn incense, your favorite candle, or put some Tea Tree oil in a diffuser.
Eat cleaner- Our food body, or anamaya kosha, is the outermost energy body that feeds our inner world both energetically and physically. When we choose to consume foods that are processed, sugary, or heavy in nature, it weighs down our spirit, slows us down physically, and pulls us away from higher awareness towards the primal reward pathways in the brain. By choosing to consume whole foods, our body and mind are able to reconnect, enhancing our ability to overcome illness, heal injury, think clearly, and rest effectively.
Remember to breathe- Our breath body, or pranamaya kosha, is the vital energy sheath that connects the physical, mental, and emotional bodies. When paid attention to, our breath can become a great indicator of how we are feeling even if we can't identify the feeling itself. If you begin to take notice of your breath, you can begin to use your breath to shift your emotional state. When you are stressed, you may breathe shallow, when you are sad or overwhelmed your breath may become rapid and uneven, or when you are in pain you may hold your breath and forget to breathe at all. By taking intentional moments to breathe slowly and into the belly, you begin to open energy pathways that emotions can flow through and out of the body with ease.
